Program Requirements

Regular Admission

Applicants must have earned a baccalaureate degree from a college or university accredited and recognized at the institutional level by the US Department of Education (USDOE) with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scaleج‎orج‎a 3.0 GPA on the last 60 hours of attempted coursework to beج‎regularly admitted.

Applicants who have earned any graduate or terminal degree from a from a college or university accredited and recognized at the institutional level by the US Department of Education (USDOE) will qualify forج‎regularج‎admission to a master’s program provided they meet all other eligibility requirements.

Conditional Admission

Applicants must have earned a baccalaureate degree from a college or university accredited and recognized at the institutional level by the US Department of Education (USDOE) with a minimum overall GPA of 2.50 on a 4.0 scaleج‎orج‎a 2.50 GPA on the last 60 hours of attempted coursework to beج‎conditionally admitted.
or
minimum formula score of GPA (either cumulative or last 60 hours) x GRE (Q+V) = 707.50

Applicants seeking admission to this program must also currently hold a bachelor's degree with a minimum 18 semester hours of Social Sciences and/or Humanities, with at least half of those being from History.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to write a thesis?
The thesis option is not required, and is unavailable for students in the online program. ج‎Upon successful completion of graduate coursework, students who are not required to complete a thesis, must successfully pass written and oral comprehensive exams.ج‎

Are there additional program requirements for admission?
Admitted students are required to provide a writing sample such as a book review, honors' thesis or research paper no longer than 10 pages, double-spaced excluding bibliography to the History Graduate Coordinator.

Are there graduate assistantships available?
A limited number of graduate assistantships are available. Contact us if you are interested in applying! Graduate assistantships are not available for students in the online program.
